Be curious about new ways of working

Hello, I'm Ren (they/them).

I’m a qualified neurodiversity and wellbeing coach, trainer, speaker and founder of Curious Coaching. I’m also a late-discovered Autistic ADHD-er.

Constant curiosity has taken me from trying to understand the origins of the Universe as a particle Physicist, to delving into what it means to be neurodivergent in a world built for neurotypicals.

I think it's about time we stopped following everyone else's rules and started getting curious about what works for us.

Ok, I'm curious

You are unique, your approach to wellbeing should be too

I want you to know that you are already enough, exactly as you are.

There is no one-size-fits-all, or manual for how to build a sustainable life and career.

You are unique, you think differently and have different experiences. Let's treasure this and learn to listen and understand what is happening for you, rather than getting overwhelmed by all the things you are told you should be doing.

It’s not all about you as an individual, it’s about the intersection between you and your environment. It’s about empowering you to set clear boundaries in life and at work, as well as untangling years of internalised ableism.

What makes me different as a coach?

Curiosity and wellbeing are the 'red threads' that run through my coaching practice.

Many coaches focus on strategies and techniques to 'hack' the brain. I like to start from a place of understanding your neurodivergence and making sure you are well resourced.

Whilst Access to Work loves 'coping strategies', I don't subscribe to the idea that we should be aiming only to 'cope'. Instead my focus is on sustainability and work that is aligned to your values.

I have an integrative and holistic approach to coaching. Bringing together my different lived experiences and qualifications in yoga teaching, wellbeing and neurodiversity coaching.

Occasionally I draw on the more philosophical aspects of my PhD in particle physics, and interest in Buddhist principles.

Finding your joy and moving towards ease

It's ok to look for the easy way

Society would love you to believe that if something is worth doing it has to be hard work.

But are the things you find joyful hard work?

When we come from a place of compassion and curiosity we can rediscover the glimmers that support our health and wellbeing.

Special interests, hyperfocus and flow states can all help us feel more like ourselves again. They give us the resources and capacity to do the other important things in life.

Get to know me

I find joy in movement, music and mother nature - my 3 M's. These are the things that help keep me feeling present and calm.

I currently spend hours:

  • dancing around the house with my noise-cancelling headphones on
  • singing along to my favourite AURORA tracks
  • reading - anything from books on Psychosynthesis all the way through to magic surrealism.
  • exploring fields, forests and fjords.

Being an AuDHDer I also have an almost endless number of hobbies and interests that I cycle between.

P.S. What's with the all sunflowers?

There is a lot of rich symbolism behind the sunflower - believe me, I rabbit-holed on this one.

I love them because they are synonymous with positivity, hope, resilience and growth. In Buddhism, they can represent the human quest for enlightenment and self-realisation.

In 2016 they became the symbol associated with hidden disabilities, including Autism and ADHD through the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme.
